From Department of Public Instruction:
Materials related to the implementation of the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs™ are available to all appropriate district special education and ELL staff athttp://dpi.wi.gov/oea/ daccorrspd.html. The Alternate ACCESS has been developed to assess the English language proficiency of students identified as havingsignificant cognitive disabilities. Districts will have an option to administer this new assessment in spring 2012. Since this assessment is designed to assess the language needs of students with significant cognitive disabilities, it may be administered by either a licensed special education professional or a licensed ELL professional, who may choose to collaborate on training and test administration. If you have questions, contact Audrey Lesondak at the Office of Educational Accountability (OEA) at audrey.lesondak@dpi.wi.gov or 608-267-5153 or Erin Faasuamalie on the Special Education Team at erin.faasuamalie@dpi.wi.gov or 608-266-1785.
