John Humphries from the Department of Public Instruction will present two free workshops on using Response to Intervention (RTI) with the new rule on identifying specific learning disabilities (SLD Rule). Mr. Humphries was one of two main authors of the SLD Rule, and is currently RTI consultant for DPI. The workshop format will be mostly lecture, with some time allotted for questions.
You will need to download your handouts ahead of time at http://www.dpi.wi.gov/sspw/schpsych.html and bring them along.You may also want to look at the complete Power Point at that website, as well as DPI's publication, "RTI, A Guiding Document," which can be found at http://dpi.state.wi.us/rti/pdf/rti-guiding-doc.pdf .
Both workshops run from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM with an hour-long break for lunch on your own.
